"Happily doing things, not doing things to be happy"

I treasure the privilege and the blessing of my physical existence on this part of the universe called Mother Earth – to have the rare opportunity to feel, sense, touch and taste what this physical life can offer. Yet, these physical sensations are nothing to compare with the majestic splendor of what our loving Creator has prepared for us. I thank God with all my heart for the total life experiences I have been blessed with and for the assurance of an everlasting life with Christ Jesus, my Lord and Savior. I am resting on His great promise when He said, “In my Father’s house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would not have told you”.

The lithograph on the left “Sagada” is a place in the northern Philippines. I visited this place to take a respite from my work at the insistent prodding of my dear father. While there I found a place called “Lake Danum”. For me, it was a paradise here on earth. The chirping of the birds was the only sound that breaks the deafening silence that dominated the atmosphere. The pristine surroundings generated a zen-like experience where peace and tranquility nourished and relaxed my weary body and soul.

The whole creation has been awaiting its rebirth in new creation, Paul writes (Roman 8: 18-25) The book of Revelations climaxes in a vision of "a new heaven and a new earth" replacing the former ones (Rev. 21: 1; compare II Peter 3:13) Similar teaching may be found in pre-Christian centuries )Enoch 45:4-5) and in the OT (Isaiah 65:17; 66:22)

Description:

A 2006 Oil on canvas, "Coralscape" based on an old pastel sketch of a small broken coral I found in a beach in Matood, Batangas, Philippines. My fascination for seemingly insignificant organic found objects went on for some time and I am bound to repeat the cycle this year 2006 on large format oils on canvas, now that I have somehow gotten my creative juice back from the effects of anaesthesia due to my appendectomy.

Description:

This is a closer view of the fourth stage from the first which was an oil wash in black and white. Second stage was adding yellow. Colors may be added as one goes on, both possible even when previous oil applied is dry or wet. A more relaxed approach to oil painting that gives me much pleasure allowing me to pay more attention to details. Try it if you do an oil on canvas. Description:

Merging foreground, middleground and infinity has always been my preoccupation when composing an artwork. Here's one I did based on early sketches I did of a female figure and a close up of her eyes, if you notice them . . "Your body is the temple of God", says St. Paul. Only after we have realized what this means can we really start to see.

Description:

An oil painting version of a wild Rose, inspired by the hymn "ROSE of SHARON", my mother's favorite before she went to her final and heavenly home with Jesus. JESUS, ROSE OF SHARON Words: Ida A. Guirey, circa 1922. Music: Charles H. Gabriel (MIDI, score). Jesus, Rose of Sharon, bloom within my heart; Beauties of Thy truth and holiness impart, That where’er I go my life may shed abroad . . Fragrance of the knowledge of the love of God.

An oil painting on canvas take off from an earlier pastel drawing.

Description:

Jesus Christ is our yardstick to be pleasing in God's sight. We become sons of the father if we do things the way Jesus did when he was physically here on earth. Christ has nothing to do with religion, but he has everything to do with the truth, for he was, he is and he will always be the way, the truth and the life.

Description:

In the '80's, these images came to me in a dream when I was a student at the Kunstakademie in Dusseldorf, Germany and had translated the dream using pastels on Cornelius paper. It's 2006 now and somehow I now have the urge to do abstract, organic landscapes again on large format canvases like this one.
