Jon Red
Studied visual arts at the Philippine High School for the Arts and painting at the University of the Philippines. Attended film workshop at the Mowelfund Film Institute.
Exhibited in various group shows at the Heritage Art Gallery, U.P., Cultural Center of the Philippines, National Arts Center, Kulay-Diwa galleries, MO Art Gallery, Metropolitan Museum of Manila. Commissioned by Mandarin Oriental Hotel of Manila and has permanently-installed large scale abstract works at the Captain’s Bar of the hotel.
Directed independent films and TV shows: the short “Es” won Best Jury Prize at the Mondiale dela Video in Brussels Belgium, 1991; “Tiempo” and “Trip”, both Best Short Film Urian Award Winners. ‘93 and ‘94; “Still Lives” (a pioneering Filipino digital film screened as Official Selection at the 2000 Singapore International Film Festival); TV show Sineskuwela (School on the Air) won the Grand Prix at the Science and Images Festival in Paris France, 2004; “ASTIGmatism”, which won the Silver DV Award at the 28th Hongkong International Film Festival (2004); “Eva Fonda” (TV, ABS CBN), Special Prize Winner at Seoul Drama Awards, 2009 .
